"What will it hurt?"

So I encountered my first real nursing problem yesterday: a bleb, or milk blister. Very painful. You don't want one. Anyway, without going into too much detail, it was eventually resolved by a hot shower and lots of massaging. However, once it is gone, you are supposed to keep moisturizing for a few days to keep it from coming back. Which is all to explain why I have been keeping my jar of Motherlove Nipple Cream nearby at all times.

Well, little S decided that Mommy's new thing must be a great new toy and was reaching for it whenever she saw it. I even gave her my phone (her favorite "toy" of all) to distract her, but she still wanted the jar! So I thought, "What will it hurt?" and gave it to her so I could have a few moments of peace. I'm sure you can see where this is going already. I was sitting at the computer, and little S was sitting behind me quietly playing with my phone and jar of cream. Well, quiet except for "tasting" sounds that she always makes when she puts things in her mouth (we are still not yet out of the tasting everything stage). So after maybe a couple of minutes, I turn around to check on her. Somehow (I have NO idea how) she had managed to open the jar. Her hands and face were covered in the stuff and it was all down the front of her pajamas (thank goodness I hadn't dressed her yet)!  Then, when I took the jar away so I could clean her up, she just about had a meltdown! I guess she had just found her new favorite snack! I guess I'll be on the lookout for some interesting diapers tomorrow!

Now I'm wishing that I had taken a picture before taking the jar away and cleaning her up. Oh well, I'm sure there will be many more changes to take pictures of little S messes in the future!

*Disclaimer: the cream is safe for ingestion (the main ingredient is olive oil) and she did not seem to have eaten much anyway.

Giggle Life Bamboo Cloth Diapers Review

Giggle Life Bamboo Diaper

Even before I knew I was going to have a baby, I had already decided to use cloth diapers. My mom used cloth diapers for my siblings and I so I grew up knowing the benefits. However, I wanted to make sure it would be as easy as disposables because I did not want to give up on my decision due to laziness.

Luckily, we discovered some great and affordable cloth diaper brands that did just that. We have twelve Giggle Life Bamboo diapers, two of each of the colors the company offered at the time we ordered them. They have since expanded their offerings to include some fun prints as well.

They are a great company with a great product. You will be glad you purchased Giggle Life diapers!

Big News!

Our little one slept in her own bed all night last night! Look out, "sleeping through the night," here we come!

I realize how silly being excited about this might be, but for parents, this is a big deal! We weren't really co-sleeping by choice (though I think we probably will in the future for our other newborns), so we did kinda want little S to sleep in her own crib in our room for a while.  We definitely did not want her to still be in bed with us when we brought a new little one home, and my husband was keen on having our own bed back for a while before that happened. It would also be ideal if she was in her own room so that she would be able to sleep when the baby was refusing to. However, I wanted to make sure she was ready. Looks like my patience is paying off! I know there will probably still be days that she ends up back in bed with us, but this is definitely a big step!

Nicki's Diapers Haul

Nicki's Diapers products

My order from Nicki's Diapers arrived this morning! I always wait to order from this site until I need enough items to qualify for free shipping, which can be a while sometimes. This order included a white Imagine brand diaper cover which I have been wanting ever since we stopped using the tiny diaper covers from Little Flower and started using the one-size covers. I am still looking for an inexpensive light pink cover, but this white one will be very useful in the meantime. It looks well constructed, though it seems to be a bit smaller than our other covers. It will be the same size when snapped on the second setting, which means little S may outgrow this one first. The other item that was desperately needed was the large wet bag. We have a small one that came with our Little Flower diapers, but we were supplementing with plastic storage bags that we would throw away after several uses, which almost defeats the purpose of using cloth diapers (as far as waste and expenses go). We discovered this flaw over the holidays when we were out and about for longer periods of time than we had been before. So yay for large wet bags!

We also now have large tubs of CJ's BUTTer. The Plus formula has been great for curing at the first signs of diaper rash, so we bought the biggest size container that they carry. We also ordered two scented ones, the lavender for bedtime and the Little Bee Buttermilk for whenever. The Little Bee is a soft, sweet scent that we really love to put on her. Along with the lotions we also decided to get some wipe solution concentrate since we will be starting solid foods soon and water may not be enough to keep her clean. We do use disposable wipes occasionally but it will be nice to have the cloth wipes solution.

We already have a dozen of the Imagine prefold diapers in a small size (I believe it is infant) to use as our back-up diapers. They are great quality and the little one is getting bigger everyday, so it was time to order some more in a bigger size. These diapers are smooth, soft cotton and have yet to show any wear where we pin them, so I am happy to have the next size available for when we need them! We also received three flannel wipes with our order, since Nicki's Diapers sends free gifts depending on your order total. All in all, I greatly recommend these products and this company!
